A drummer that sings? Yes, up to this day, it is a rare phenomenon world wide! And South Africa has one of those: Ghapi. The big man, with the big voice and the big bush of hair. Ghapi first became known to the public early in 2005 and very quickly established a reputation in the corporate market, as well as being a big draw card at music festivals and clubs. Ghapi is a full blooded rocker, and has the ability to perform in English and Afrikaans. Due to his unbelievable talent and diversity, he is also a highly recommended act at theatres, across South Africa. Ghapi has also performed in the U.K, Bahrain, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Swaziland.

Backed by his 3 piece band, lead guitarist and bassist, Ghapi will take you by storm with some well known English songs like 'Walking in Memphis', 'Sweet Home Alabama', 'Drift Away', 'I'm A Believer', 'Proud Mary'. The name of the band Ghapi comes from Phillip Botha's nickname - Guppy. As a baby Ghapi was very lively and his father renamed him after the busy little fish. "My new name must be as true to me as my hair and what better than my nickname? I adjusted the spelling so that the word is unique", says Ghapi.

Ghapi has been in the entertainment industry for 28 years. 15 years were spent performing in the band, Georgia. Ghapi also successfully manages his own record company, Rock Till You Drop Records.

Ghapi has achieved several accolades: He won the Huisgenoot Tempo Award for the Best Rock Group in 2006; He was nominated for the Vonk Oscar Awards in the categories: Best Newcomer; Best Single Music Video & Best Rock/Alternative Album. Ghapi has had 7 Top 10 hits, 4 of which have reached number one position!
